Objective

Build a ×11 amplifier and verify Vout = (1 + Rf/Rg)·Vin.

Procedure

  1. Run and read the output.
  2. Short Rf (R = 1 Ω): the circuit becomes a voltage follower with gain 1.

Theory

The feedback divider Rg–Rf makes the inverting input follow Vin, so Vout = (1 + Rf/Rg)·Vin = 11 × 0.5 V = 5.5 V. Input resistance is very high.

Questions to answer

  1. What is the gain of a voltage follower?

Components used

3 × Battery / DC source, Op-Amp LM741, 2 × Resistor 220 ohm 1/4W

About the model

Ideal wires; component models as listed in the catalogue (no parasitics, no temperature drift). Built without a breadboard so the schematic stays readable.
